Genworth owns 81% of Enact "ACT", which at $22/share is worth $2.8 Billion...and Genworth stock "GNW" at 4.21/share has a market cap of $2.1 Billion. They have $356 million in cash and look to reduce debt from 1.25 Billion down to $900 Million this year.
Mngt is talking about returning capital to shareholders, and spinning off shares of Enact would be a great way. GNW owns over 131 million shares of ACT,,,,they could issue 1 ACT share for every 4 shares of GNW we own. That would affectively be a 100% return

This has been a value trap. The stock is selling for where is was 6 years ago but yet the financials are so much better.

You did the right thing. This will go on for a number of years with the rate increases. They have already told us that.
Once enough people drop the premium it will likely force additional rate increases.

there are refundable premium home care and LTC plans with no rate increases.If you do not use it you get back all your premiums plus a rate of return

Right you are.

My wife and I just got hit with a big rate increase again. About 3k a year between the two of us. We have been with them over 11 years.

Plus they say they are going to increase rates again in 4 years. Been with them though several rate increases.

This one was the straw that broke the camels back. We therefore are electiing paid up premiums at the current daily rate with no further payments. We are taking the money we pay and putting it into a segregated savings account to supplement any future care over our current significant contributions.

We have always paid before the end of the year for tax reasons and when I called to ask for this years bills on us both I mentioned at least you are not having to deal with people about another rate increase and the lady said zip, nada nothing about the fact the letters were coming out on another rate increase. There is no way she did not know the letters were in the works.

I called on a Thursday and got notice of the rate increases on Sat.

If as many people do like we are doing they are going to be lookin at massive cuts in income.

With our separate account we can use if for either of our care over and above Gen Worth money. If we don't need the money it will go to the kids.

They should be higher and in my opinion worth every cent of $10 or higher. But, they have a buy out price they accepted and the shareholders voted on of $5.43 a share.

or higher! they had a P/S ratio of 0.28 and a B/V of
0.18 they have 3.6 bil in cash and a lot of debt 5 bil
and they did 8 bil in revs this past year! what gives
