ContourGlobal PLC (GLO.LN) and the government of Kosovo have selected a consortium of General Electric Co. (GE) companies as the preferred bidder for its Kosova e Re power plant project.

The Kosova e Re project is being constructed as a modern coal-fired power plant and will represent the biggest foreign direct investment ever made in Kosovo, ContourGlobal said Friday.

ContourGlobal said the GE consortium is the preferred bidder for the turn-key engineering, procurement and construction and long-term maintenance contracts.

The London-listed company said it expects to engage in further negotiations and reach an agreement on final terms with General Electric.
