                             ANNOUNCEMENT FROM COLES MYER

 
Coles Myer today requested a trading halt in respect of its ordinary shares (CML
and CMLC).

The request was made because of speculation about the content of the Company's
Strategic Review Update, due to be announced tomorrow, Tuesday 26 March 2002. 
This announcement will be made prior to the commencement of trading tomorrow.

Trading will recommence in the Company's shares tomorrow.
