                              Board Appointment




Gaskell PLC ('Gaskell') today announces the appointment of Nigel Jeremy
Roberts to the Board as an Executive Director, with immediate effect. Mr
Roberts, aged 43, will be Managing Director of the newly formed Carpet
Division, which was established as part of the Group's re-organisation on 1
January 2001. He has extensive senior management experience in the textile
industry, latterly with the Interface group, and has previously held
directorships with Camborne Holdings Limited, Interface Fabrics Limited and
CRE 8 Digital Limited. Save as disclosed in this paragraph, there are no
further matters to be disclosed in accordance with paragraph 16.4 of the
Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.


This appointment is a significant step towards completing the principal
changes to the Gaskell management team following Gerry Wheeler's appointment
as Group Chief Executive last September and the subsequent restructuring of
the Group. As announced in January 2001, Gordon Donald now heads up the core
Gaskell Tile Division, while Gerry Wheeler continues to oversee the Non-Wovens
Division. The new structure is already creating new sales opportunities and
improving operational efficiencies.
