                               Drilling Update at Maroochydore Copper JV

*        First 7 RC drill holes completed, with remaining 6 holes to be drilled once larger capacity rig
         becomes available.

*        Good copper intercepts from all 7 holes, including 7m @ 2.45% Cu.

*        Assay results in line with expectations for this infill drilling of the existing JORC resource of
         51Mt @ 1% Cu and 0.04% Co.

*        6 hole diamond drilling program planned to provide further infill drilling of the JORC resource
         and obtain metallurgical test samples.
    
Murchison  United  NL  (ASX:  MUR,  AIM: MUU) is pleased to announce results  of  recent  drilling  at  the
Maroochydore  Copper Joint Venture Project in Western Australia undertaken by the project operator,  Aditya
Birla Minerals Limited (ASX: ABY).

The  assay  results are from the first 7 vertical drill holes of a planned program comprising 13  RC  drill
holes  for  a  total of 1,500 metres. This program is designed in part to provide infill  drilling  of  the
existing JORC compliant resource at the Maroochydore Project of 51 million tonnes @ 1% Cu for 0.51  million
tonnes of contained copper and 20,000 tonnes contained cobalt (at 0.5% Cu cut-off). All RC holes are  being
drilled within the existing resource boundary.

The  results  received positively demonstrate continuity of mineralisation within the small  area  drilled,
with copper grades in line with expectations.

The  sampling interval was 1m down hole with samples analysed by ALS Chemex in Perth using ICP  OES.  Water
inflow  problems  encountered resulted in some wet samples being taken from each hole. These  samples  were
spear sampled while the dry samples were riffle split.

It  was  not possible to complete the planned drilling program at this time due to the limited availability
of the drill rig. Furthermore, as a result of drilling difficulties encountered due to water inflow, it has
been  decided  to  complete the remaining 6 holes using a larger capacity RC drill  rig  when  one  becomes
available.

A six-hole diamond drilling program has also been planned for further infill drilling and to obtain samples
for metallurgical test work. The timing of this program is also dependent on rig availability.

Information  on future drilling activities at Maroochydore will be released to the market when  it  becomes
available.

The  Maroochydore  Copper Project is strategically located 100km southeast of Aditya Birla's  Nifty  Copper
Mine, near Telfer, in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia.
