LONDON, May 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

All the top players of Great Britain's card and payment industries got together this year to attend The Card and Payments 2014 Awards. Barclaycard, Coutts & Co and American Express were a few of the major players who entered the awards and attended on the night.

The black tie sit down dinner event, now in its ninth year, recognises members of the finance sector in areas such as customer service, excellence and innovation. Once again, host and comedian Milton Jones took to the stage to acknowledge the achievements of those who had been nominated and won awards on the night; he did not fail to raise a few tears of joy either.

Royal Bank of Scotland was awarded for their customer focused Cashback Plus reward programme, winning the 'Best Card Benefits Programme of the Year' award. This debit card programme, 'feel rewarded everyday', offers immediate benefits once registration has been completed. The debit card rewards its customers on what they spend in selected UK retailers, which are outlined within the programme guidelines. This is among the many reasons it has been such a success, with over a million activated accounts in the last year. The programme has proven to bring value to both customers and the partnering retailers.

The Card and Payment Awards is not only recognised for its unparalleled networking opportunities, it also has a charitable side and aims to raise funds for those less fortunate. The charitable event raised substantial funds for their partner charity, Mencap. Mencap is a charity that strives to help and protect people with learning disabilities, offering a range of supportive programmes.

The Card and Payments Awards charitable event continues to grow each year and is one to watch out for.
