Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced that the Unified
Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kan., licensed the
Lawson S3 Enterprise Financial Management, Human Capital Management
and Supply Chain Management Suites to support its growing business
operations and enhance its reporting capabilities. Lawson made the
announcement during the 2008 Lawson Conference and User Exchange
(CUE) in Las Vegas. The contract was signed during Lawsons third
quarter of fiscal 2008, which ended Feb. 29, 2008. Wyandotte
County, Kan., has nearly 160,000 citizens and includes the states
most populous city, Kansas City. In 1997, Wyandotte County and
Kansas City consolidated operations to form the Unified Government
of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kan. The Unified Government will
use the Lawson applications to create a centralized administrative
system. This consolidated system will help the organization
generate timely, accurate reports for government administrators by
automating formerly manual processes, such as those associated with
budgeting, purchasing and personnel transactions. The Lawson system
also will help the Unified Government increase employee
productivity and reduce operational costs by reducing redundant
data entry across multiple business systems. A growing number of
cities and counties are adopting unified ERP systems coupled with
business best practices to help improve staff productivity and
deliver greater financial transparency, said Alex Kaplan, practice
director, public services, Lawson Software. Lawson delivers
powerful enterprise applications that are designed to be simple to
deploy and use, which can help local governments serve their
communities more cost-effectively. Lawson serves more than 120
public services customers, including three of the top seven digital
state governments and four of the 25 largest school districts in
the United States. State governments, cities, counties, school
districts, publicly owned utilities/authorities and special
districts rely on Lawson solutions to help meet the needs of a
