Energy Composites Corporation further strengthened their WindFiber™ Team with the appointment of their first Sales Engineer, a well respected U.S. wind blade industry professional, Derek Johnson. Mr. Johnson will be responsible for establishing responsive, sustainable relationships with major wind farm integrators and turbine manufacturers in the U.S. WindFiber™ Operations, ECC’s wind blade fabrication division that will operate a new 535,000 square foot advanced blade manufacturing facility in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

“Derek brings to ECC’s WindFiber™ division remarkable insight on the growing market for wind energy in the United States,” noted Sam Fairchild, Energy Composites’ CEO. “Pairing Derek with Adrian Williams, WindFiber’s™ Director, is a winning combination to ensure that WindFiber™ is successfully market-facing and responsive. I particularly value Derek’s understanding of the full blade-fabrication cycle -- associates who have had extensive experience on the factory floor bring important insights to developing successful sales strategies. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to benefit from Derek’s leadership.”

Before joining ECC, Mr. Johnson served as North American Service Manager for LM Glasfiber, where he led the development of their service division and delivered exceptional results.

Jamie Mancl, ECC’s founder and President, added that “Derek is the consummate team player, with a strong work ethic and willingness to do his homework. He will support Adrian in multiple ways as we launch and commission our new blade factory.”

Adrian Williams, WindFiber’s™ Director, said, “Derek is a well-known quantity to me, and our decision to bring him onto the team was a very easy one to make. WindFiber™ clearly has an aggressive schedule, and Derek will provide substantial value to us as we meet our launch milestones and then our performance milestones. He is very well respected within the industry because he delivers what he says he will deliver, and that is what WindFiber™ is all about.”

ECC’s WindFiber™ manufacturing facility, which will have a 1,500 megawatt production capacity, will be the centerpiece of one of North America’s leading wind turbine blade manufacturing businesses. Together with its 40-acre logistics center, the plant will be able to produce more blades of a greater length than any current or planned facility in the United States, including the very long blades -- greater than 50 meters in length -- that are required by the rapidly growing offshore wind energy sector. WindFiber™ enjoys important industry advantages, including a high-productivity, streamlined manufacturing model, nine production lines of advanced flexible manufacturing with significant vertical supply chain integration designed to reduce input costs and expand quality, the use of unique de-icing technology that help to make wind farms more sustainable, and the development of the only global certified blade fabrication training program. The WindFiber™ plant is scheduled to open in Q1 of 2011.
