Powercor Australia places initial commercial order for MicroPlanet
products to dynamically manage voltage at optimal levels to save
energy, improve power quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
SEATTLE, WA, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MicroPlanet,
(MP:TSXV & MCTYF:OTC) a clean technology, energy conservation
company, announced today that Powercor Australia has placed a
commercial order to deploy MicroPlanet products to dynamically
manage voltage at optimal levels, saving energy and reducing
greenhouse gas emissions. Deliveries for Powercor's initial order
of 30 MicroPlanet systems, valued at US $125,000, are expected to
begin in the first quarter of 2009. Powercor's commitment to begin
the commercial deployment of MicroPlanet products follows
successful lab tests and pilot tests at three field locations in
Australia. "Powercor joins Ergon Energy, which has ordered 3,000
MicroPlanet systems to date, as the second major utility to utilize
our products as an integral tool for improving the efficiency of
the electrical grid in Australia", said Bruce Lisanti, CEO of
MicroPlanet. Lisanti continues "Since Ergon Energy's commitment to
a large scale deployment of MicroPlanet products, other major
utilities in Australia have been working with MicroPlanet to test
and deploy our products, which are designed to withstand the
extreme environmental conditions experienced in Australia and to
improve efficiency across networks that span long distances over
difficult terrain." "MicroPlanet is also working with more than 30
other utilities worldwide, in addition to many large commercial
accounts. We have now installed over 600 systems in pilot programs
with customers that have the potential to place significant
commercial orders. Our pilot programs continue to return very
positive results. Reductions in energy consumption of 5-8% in
residential applications and 5-12% in commercial environments are
common without requiring any changes in customer behavior
patterns," said Lisanti. About Powercor Australia: Powercor is one
