Eni SpA (ENI.MI) and its partners Pertamina and Neptune Energy have been awarded the West Ganal exploration block in the Kutei Basin, offshore Indonesia.

The block awarded by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources includes the Maha discovery, where gas resources are estimated to be more than 600 billions of standard cubic feet of gas and which has further exploration potential, the Italian company said Monday.

"This award expands Eni's position and upstream activities in the East Kalimantan's Kutei Basin, which is one of the most promising hydrocarbon provinces in Indonesia," it said.
