                  Ardent Group plc ("Ardent" or "the Company")

                            Statement re Suspension

The board of Ardent has noted the significant rise in its share price and 
announces that it is in advanced negotiations which, if concluded successfully, 
would lead to an acquisition which would be classified as a reverse takeover 
under the AIM Rules.

Accordingly, the Company has requested that trading in its shares on AIM is 
suspended pending publication of an admission document.
