              Payment of the Final Dividend
 
Following  the announcement this morning of a recommended
offer for Bandt plc by Tilbury Douglas Plc, the Board  of
Bandt  now intends to pay the proposed final dividend  of
1.2p  per  share declared on 7 June 1999 on 10  September
1999  as opposed to 17 August 1999.  The reason for  this
deferment is to co-ordinate the payment of Bandt's  final
dividend with the dividend election contained in  Tilbury
Douglas' offer announcement.
