Dean Corporation plc ("Dean" or the "Company")
 
Completion of acquisition of IPM Engineering Limited ("IPM")
Trading in Artisan (UK) plc ("Artisan")
 
 
The Company announces that following approval by Deans'
shareholders at yesterday's EGM the acquisition of IPM has been
completed.
 
Further, the demerger of the businesses of Dean Homes Limited
("Dean Homes") and Speymill Contracts Limited ("Speymill") into
Artisan has also been completed and trading in Artisan shares on
AIM commenced from today.  Under the terms of the demerger set out
in the circular sent to shareholders on 11 November 1998
shareholders of Dean who were on the register as at 3.00pm
yesterday will receive one share in Artisan for every one share
held in Dean.  Dean shares are trading from this morning ex of the
entitlement to receive the Artisan shares.
