                    THE DEFINED CAPITAL RETURN FUND LIMITED
                       LAUNCH OF THE COMPANY CONFIRMED

Following the Second Extraordinary General Meetings of Jupiter Enhanced Income
Investment Trust PLC Jupiter Split Trust PLC and Jupiter Financial Trust PLC
held on 1 November 2004, and Second Scottish National Trust PLC held on 29th
October 2004, The Defined Capital Return Fund Limited (the "Company") is being
launched.

The Company has issued 28 million ordinary shares at 100p each which includes
48,200 shares issued under the offer for subscription. The Defined Capital
Return which was determined on the Fixing Date is 136.49p which equates to a
gross redemption yield of 6.42 per cent per annum

Terms defined in the Prospectus dated 14 September 2004 bear the same meanings 
when used in this announcement.
