General Electric Co.'s healthcare business has received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration for its AIR Recon DL for 3D and Propeller imaging sequences.

GE Healthcare said Thursday that the new applications will create better MRI image quality, shorter scan times and an enhanced patient experience.

The company said that the expanded compatibility from 2D to 3D imaging sequences will allow physicians to quickly diagnose patients with improved signal-to-noise ratio and sharpness. The compatibility with Propeller, a motion-insensitive imaging sequence, will also improve imaging for patients who have difficulty remaining still for the duration of the scan, the company said.

GE Healthcare is a $17.7 billion business under GE focused on medical technology, pharmaceutical diagnostics and digital solutions.
