Bayerische Motoren Werke AG said Wednesday that it is suspending production at its plant in Shenyang, northeastern China, due to the local government's Covid-19 prevention controls.

The German car maker, which operates in China through its joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., said production will be suspended from Thursday and that a date to resume production is to be determined.

BMW said it will continue to monitor the coronavirus situation and adjust production plans accordingly.
