BEA - PURCHASE AND HIRE OF VLGC-VESSELS

Bergesen has entered into an agreement to purchase the 78.500 cbm VLGC-vessel 
CO-OP Sunrise from Japanese interests. The vessel is built at Hitachi Zosen
Corporation in 1987. The purchase price is USD 26,75 mill. Bergesen will take
delivery of the vessel in fourth quarter 2002. The vessel is already employed in
Bergesen's VLGC pool.

Bergesen has also entered into an agreement to charter in two VLGC-newbuildings
of 82.000 cbm from an industrial group in Taiwan. The vessels are chartered in
at a fixed rate for two years, with option for Bergesen to extend the period by
maximum three years. Bergesen also has an option to purchase the vessels during
the hire-period. The vessels will be employed in Bergesen's VLGC pool.


Bergesen's VLGC pool will after these transactions operate a fleet of 33
vessels.
