Business Wire
Solar Night Industries (OTC: SLND) wishes to announce that SNI
senior management led by President Jason Loyet are attending
Advancing Renewable Energy: An American Rural Renaissance, an
alternative renewable energy conference organized by the
Departments of Agriculture and Energy in St. Louis, Missouri on
October 10-12, 2006. This conference will create partnerships and
strategies necessary to accelerate commercialization of renewable
energy industries and distribution systems, the crux of President
Bush's Advanced Energy Initiative (AEI). In fact, President Bush
himself is scheduled to give the keynote address on Thursday
evening, October 12, 2006. USDA and DOE expect conference attendees
to cover a broad spectrum of interests, including: agriculture,
energy, transportation, financial and investment, federal and state
government, and elected officials. Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman
stated, "Never has reducing our dependence on foreign oil been such
a pressing issue. We have the will and the means to replace
significant quantities of foreign oil with homegrown fuel. We are
hopeful this conference will identify major impediments and
critical pathways to get more domestically grown, renewable energy
sources out of the laboratory and into consumers' hands as soon as
possible." SNI President Jason Loyet pointed out that the
conference has identified one of the major sectors primed for solar
energy growth, the agricultural sector. "They subtitled the
conference "An American Rural Renaissance" for a reason.
Geographically distant agricultural fields are ideal candidates for
low power, off-grid power modern energy driven solutions. America's
farmers are being financially squeezed by the high cost of foreign
oil imports. Solar Night Industries is working to help the farmer
with the development and distribution of solar powered water pumps,
solar irrigation systems and clean energy solutions for AG," Loyet
maintained. "SNI will continue to seek out best in class products
and develop mutually beneficial relationships with agricultural
contractors, installers and homebuilders." For the past several
years, USDA Rural Development has provided renewable energy grants.
During FY 2005, 154 grants totaling over $22 million were awarded.
Since the start of the Bush Administration, Rural Development has
funded more than $356 million in renewable energy and energy
efficiency ventures through various programs. About Solar Night
