Bitcoin has what backing it~? Then again what does Fiat currency have backing it~? I like the tangible assets but that's just me.

Does RC have some info not yet divulged~? Still a huge gamble, but when you have $4.8 billion to back up your $1.5 billion bet, take the bet. That's why they call the stock market GAMBLING.

yep he's trying to take a playbook out of mstr, btc is risky but like i said it's the "in" thing to do, and market liked the initial reaction before the offering came out.

also looks better with that cash amount on the balance sheet.

$GME is making money on that $4.8 billion in their coffers~! AND they haven't even made any announcements as to acquisitions/mergers or anything.

So, for now look at the money on their balance sheet as revenue generating. Smart move IMO.

The Bitcoin aspect of this I am not sold on................ but this is RC's move. Maybe he's right~? I dunno........

I like tangible assets like precious metals, but that's me.

It's not a "dumb ass" Company. RC has to make decisions based on what is best for the Company going forward.

This is a non-event IMO. No cash will be utilized from current cash holdings. This goes out to 2030, and the Company has the choice on whether to pay out the balance in Cash or Shares or both a mix of cash and shares.

Just an excuse to bring the share price down. We'll see how long this lasts.

It was pretty interesting. The bottom line is that the market does not like this development, with GME shares -18% right now here today.

I must admit that I am perplexed at what their logic and strategy is here. This seems batshit crazy to me. The only guess that comes to mind is they know of some government plan that will boost BTC. Interestingly, I am fairly certain that insider trading rules do not apply to crypto because it is not a security (at least BTC is not one). 

This language in GME's announcement of the offering is quite curious. It states the notes will not carry regular interest, and there will no accretion in the principal amount of the notes. The bonds will be priced on a date to be determined.
"The notes will be general unsecured obligations of GameStop, will not bear regular interest and the principal amount of the notes will not accrete," according to the statement.

Upon conversion, GameStop will pay or deliver cash, Class A common stock or a combination of cash and stock at its election, according to the statement.

The severe drop is due to the PR after hours yesterday that GME is issuing $1.3 Billion in convertible debt in order to buy Bitcoin. That could eventually be significantly dilutive to GME shares. The real question is, why would they do this when GME has over $4.7 Billion in cash on the balance sheet?

Validation and bond final documents and SEC filing should happen today or tomorrow

IMO as they already have a few investors waiting before they dropped the announcement and PR

The bond will be valued at EOD PPS plus a premium
which I believe we will see at $32-35 conversion price 5 years from now

It's all right there on the DTCC website (Depository Trust~?). I "trust" the depository as far as I can throw it. It needs to be shut down and replaced with people outside of the BANKS. and Market Makers.
