Elamex's Food Division Receives High Honors for Quality Products

Elamex S.A. de C.V. , a diversified manufacturing services company
with food, plastics and metals operations and real estate holdings
in Mexico and the United States, today announced that its food
division Franklin Connections has recently received high honors
related to product quality and facilities inspection. Azar Nut
Company, the nut processing and packaging division of Franklin
Connections, was named a 2003 Gold Partner supplier to SYSCO
Corporation (NYSE:SYY), North America's largest foodservice
marketer and distributor. Gold Partner companies represented the
top 10 suppliers out of 100 Supplier Recognition Award recipients.
SYSCO's Supplier Recognition Award recipients were selected from a
group of approximately 2,000 eligible suppliers located worldwide.
The Awards were based on companies' ratings on a range of variables
including 1) supplier/vendor relationship, 2) growth of the
supplier's product within the SYSCO system, 3) profitability of the
supplier's product within the SYSCO system, 4) customer service
performance, 5) product quality, and 6) plant/facilities ratings.
Azar Nut Company supplies nut meats, peanut butter, candy and dried
fruits to SYSCO. SYSCO has been an Azar Nut Company customer for
nearly 25 years. Elamex also announced that upon receipt of its
annual inspection by AIB International, a division of The American
Institute of Baking association, all three of Franklin Connections
facilities (one located in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and two in El
Paso, Texas) were rated "Superior," the AIB's highest ranking. "Our
