“Compassion is at the core of what we do at MITER Brands,” said
Matt DeSoto, President and CEO of MITER Brands. “Not only is it
important to us as a company to help people protect their homes and
families before and during a storm, but to also serve as a reliable
ally post-storm. It is our goal to aid in the rebuilding of homes
and communities, as well as support the well-being of individuals
impacted by the storm. We are incredibly grateful to have had the
opportunity to work with Builders FirstSource and the Greater
Houston Builders Association to carry out this mission and help
many Houstonians in need.”
MITER Brands partnered with Builders FirstSource, a MITER Brands
dealer and the nation's largest supplier of building products,
components, and services, as well as the Greater Houston Builders
Association (GHBA), to host the six-hour event on Wednesday, July
17 at 9511 W. Sam Houston Parkway N. in Houston. Representatives
from MITER Brands and various volunteers from Builders FirstSource
and the GHBA passed out relief supplies, including more than 38,000
bottles of water, 3,556 batteries, 200 flashlights, gloves, and
extension cords, among other items.
Two trucks from MITER Brands facilities in Venice, Florida
traveled more than 1,000 miles to bring supplies to the event.
“Following the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl to the
Houston community, BFS Houston Custom Windows was honored to
partner with MITER Brands and the GHBA,” said Slade Sloan, General
Manager of the Custom Windows Division for BFS Houston Custom
Windows. “We are deeply committed to serving, rebuilding, and
restoring our city as quickly as possible!”
Hurricane Beryl made landfall near Matagorda, Texas on the
morning of Monday, July 8, as a Category 1 storm, with maximum
sustained winds reported at 80 mph by the National Hurricane Center
(NHC). The storm quickly moved northward over Texas, with the
eyewall directly impacting the Houston metropolitan region and
causing widespread, lengthy power outages.
“We were eager to support when Builders FirstSource and MITER
Brands came to us about hosting a disaster recovery distribution,”
said Aimee Bertrand, CEO of GHBA. “We are grateful to our
homebuilding members and HomeAid Houston for swiftly springing into
action to help us distribute these much-needed supplies to the
community.”
