(EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international design, consulting,
engineering and management services company, today announced that a
consortium led by its Brazilian subsidiary ARCADIS Logos, has
signed a US$54 million contract with
SABESP, the Sao Paulo State Basic Sanitation Company. Under the
contract ARCADIS will provide project management services for the
extension of the infrastructure for collection, removal and
treatment of waste water in the Sao
Paulo metropolitan area. The project, entitled Tiete - phase
III, has a five year time frame. ARCADIS Logos holds a 35% share of
the five year contract.
The total investment for the program will amount to US$ 1.1billion. Its main objective is improvement
of the environment and the quality of life for the population in
the extreme northern and eastern sections of Sao Paulo. The project comprises the
construction of 1,250 km additional sewerage network, 580 km of
main sewers and interceptors, and the increase of the sewage
treatment capacity by 7.4 m3/s.
The project completion is scheduled for the year 2016 and is
expected to generate around 80,000 direct and indirect jobs. At the
peak of its activities, the consortium management team will
mobilize approximately 200 people.
