                   Notification of Major Interests in Shares

Volex Group p.l.c. has today received notifications pursuant to section 198
Companies Act 1985 confirming the following;

That Royal Mail Pensions Trustees Limited and Possfund Custodian Trustee Ltd
have loaned 113,000 ordinary 25p shares, (0.395%) of the Company's issued share
capital. This has resulted in a reduction in their material interest in the
shares of the Company. As at 17 June 2003, their direct holding following this
transaction was 1,391,381 ordinary 25p shares (4.865%). These shares are
registered in the name of PossFund Nominees Ltd.

As a direct consequence of the loan referred to above the Trustees of the BT
Pension Scheme, Hermes Investment Management Limited and Hermes Pensions
Management Limited, which have a non-material interest in the shares of Volex
Group p.l.c. have reduced their interest to 12.606% representing a direct
holding of 3,605,555 ordinary 25p shares. These shares are registered in the
names of BriTel Fund Nominees Ltd and Possfund Nominees Ltd which now hold
2,214,174 and 1,391,381 ordinary 25p shares respectively.
